Raphael

Many people who have boarded their whippets with Lena will remember her precious Raphael.
Sadly he passed away earlier this year.

Raphael

This is his story as I remember it.  It may not be entirely accurate but I am sure Lena will forgive me.
Raphael came to Lena as more or less a “rescue whippet”.  Back when Lena was doing her garden maintenance
more or less full time she regularly visited one home and was saddened to see this lovely whippet boy
always tied up to his kennel with wire.  One day she asked the people why they kept him tied up and if
they were really fond of him if they treated him this way.  They said they were not all that fussed,
he was “only a dog” so Lena took to the wire with her secateurs, put him in her car and drove away.
From that day on he was hers to love, cherish and adore.  He was always happy to greet a new boarder
and share his beautiful home with them.  He lived to a grand old age with Lena and no dog was more spoilt
living a life of luxury until the very end. R.I.P dear Raphael.

Mousey painting

You were such a beautiful creature. Your body so finely sculpted, your face so sweet, your step so graceful, your manners impeccable. You were my Princess, though you cared nought for such pretentions; they were for mere humans like myself. You cared only to love, and to be loved in return. You were FÜgen's best friend, and now you are at rest in her garden. Together we have cried so many tears for you.

You will always be welcome in our dreams, but for now Dear, Dear 'Mousey',

Rest in Peace.

They say memories are golden,
Well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
No other could ever fill.
If tears could built a stairway
And heartache make a lane,
I’d walk the path to heaven
And bring you back again.

Caitlin & Flash
I miss you so much; you are always in my thoughts
And forever more in my heart.
No one can ever take your place.
Rest in peace my darling girls.
Your loving Mum

Kiwi

SBIS Ch. Rowenbrae Last Tycoon “Kiwi”
Sire NZ Aust Ch Noholme Beau Dene  Dam Ch Rowenbrae Kentucky Blue

Kiwi was born 16/1/97 into our family and as he grew we knew we had someone special.   From winning the Whippet Assoc of Vic Inc Puppy Point Score to BIS Under Judge Phil Moran-Healy (Eng) with an entry of 180 whippets.

When Phil judged Kiwi at this show he seen in Kiwi what we had seen everyday.  He won under specialists Judges from around the world, Kiwi took us on a great ride in the show ring.  Kiwi was a major part of our family from being the boss in the yard, even putting Dad’s greyhounds in their place, to having cuddles on the couch.

He was with us everyday at work.  When people came into our shop asking about whippets Kiwi would go out and introduce himself.  The adults would admire and pat him, the children he would nudge and kiss and he would stand rock solid for the frail so they could rub his ears and have a talk.    We thank everyone for their kind thoughts on our loss of our dear friend.

Kiwi, you left to soon, our hearts still ache.  Neil, Kylie and Lindsay

CLIFFBURN COURAGE
‘FLYNN’ -  4-11-2007

Flynn came into my life in mid 1996 after finishing his showing.  Peter and Griff had raised him beautifully and he fitted in perfectly with my Golden girls, Kiku and Hana.

For the last 11 years Flynn was my constant and loyal companion and living breathing hottie, sometimes allowing Taylor under the doona too but always having first choice of comfy places.

Flynn also helped many of my students of Canine Bowen Therapy. His beautiful whippet physique was perfect for explaining surface anatomy and demonstrating the Bowen method of treatment. He was always a patient teacher, helping his last student just a few months ago.

Flynn became unwell at the end of October, and despite being given the best of veterinary care, was not able to recover. He was put to sleep at home in my arms on the afternoon of Sunday November 4th, surrounded by love. His presence in the house was huge, and there is an enormous gap where a quirky little brindle and white whippet should be.

He is sadly missed by Taylor, and Rosie and Hugo Brett. Kiri the new Golden puppy does her best to cheer us. Only time will heal this aching feeling of loss. Goodbye Little Woosle Woo.  I’ll see you at the Rainbow Bridge with the girls and Henry, Hamish and Heidi. Run free and fast till then.

Malcolm
Mal

“MALCOLM”
Arjai Fields of Fire
29/6/1993 – 6/9/2007

Old Mal came to Diana Morrison at the tender age of nine years old.  Jo rang me in a terrible state as due to personal circumstances she had to move house and live with her mother and could only take her two “girls”.

She was desperate to find a home for Old Mal.  I had met Diana when she rang me to obtain a whippet puppy.  At that stage she had her dear old greyhound Bella who had health problems and wasn’t expected to live a lot longer.  Diana purchased Gemma and then when I said that Mal was desperately looking for a home she was only too happy to take him into her life.

Mal had literally been a kennel dog most of his life but being the “true gentleman” that he was he walked into Diana’s home, peed on a chair (an action which was never repeated again) as if to say “Well if this is to be my new home I’d better “mark” it as mine”. Then he jumped onto the couch and there he stayed until the day he died.  Mal fitted into to Diana’s routine as if he had lived at Mont Albert all his life.  Not long after Bella passed away and Mal took over as king of the house and guarded Gemma like the dignified gentleman that he was.  He was much loved by the lost and lonely folk when he went to work with Diana at Repat.  Everyone at the Park knew and loved him even though he would get a fixation on some dogs, male or female.  He never left Diana’s side.  But unfortunately our oldies just cannot live forever so Mal was put to sleep on September the 6th after a wonderful last five years of his life as Diana’s dear Old Mal.  Rest in Peace old man!!!

Amy and Woody

01/12/1993  -   19/10/2009

SBIS Ch Bonnymead Simply Summer  “Amy”
And
MBIS Aust Grd Ch & NZ Ch Bonnymead Red Pepper  “Woody”

“Woody” & “Amy” were litter mates and my constant companions for nearly 16 years.  We had so much fun together, both in and away from the show scene. They loved our grand-children and never wanted to be separated from the family or one another.

Wonderful showdogs, at the tender age of 9 months “Amy” was BIS and “Woody”  Runner-Up BIS at the 2004 Whippet Specialty. “Amy” was several times BIG but showing was never to her liking.  “Woody” on the other hand just loved it and gave 110% every time we went into the ring.  A multi BIS winner, he was also the winner of multiple Royal & Whippet Specialty CCs.  Towards the end of his show career, he went 3rd BIS at the Melbourne Royal 2001.   He was indeed  a  ‘once in a lifetime’ dog.
They left this world the way they came into it, together.

Forever in my heart.

VALE STELLA – Berinswift Bitter Sweet
Bill Coggins contacted me very distraught to say that Stella went missing from her new home in Mt Eliza on December 19th 2010.
After a frantic search by so many people but especially Ilona & the Doubleday family unfortunately I received the very sad email below.    RIP Stella.
“Janis and I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the attempts to find Stella.  There are a number of people we would like to specifically thank but we are sure you will understand that at the moment our minds are not thinking very clearly.
Despite everyone’s best efforts the worst possible scenario has eventuated.  Stella was found by a lovely lady from Corryong visiting her sister.  She was out walking her own dogs on Old Mornington road Mt Eliza and came across Stella on the side of the road.
It just does not seem enough to say thank you to everyone for your time, effort and consideration.
Regards
Bill & Janis”
